Swelling and bruising peak at 48–72 hours after facial surgery — this is completely normal and expected. Rest with your head elevated at 30–45 degrees. Cold compresses can reduce swelling in the first 48 hours. Do not apply heat.
Bruising fades from purple to yellow-green. Swelling begins to reduce visibly. Most patients feel comfortable for quiet indoor activities. Avoid bending over, heavy lifting, or activities that increase blood pressure to the face.
Most sutures are removed by Day 7. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work or light social activities by Day 10–14. Residual swelling continues to resolve over the following months.
